Frustration

This is a technique I've wanted to try for years. It's Norieko Endo's idea.  You take your scraps and chop them into itty bitty pieces with your rotary cutter then sprinkle them on a piece of fabric and put tulle over the top then quilt the heck out of it!  One night I was extrememly frustrated with my son, who is having a really hard time and we just don't know what to do but find help, which we are.  So chopping up the fabric with my rotary cutter was very stress relieving and then making something beautiful brought me such peace!  I wish I would have made the middle of the flower smaller but I love how the colors fade from light to dark. It reminds me of a tropical flower in front of the ocean. this one is very heavy and made my sewing maching make lots of noises.

  1. I too have loved what Norieko Endo does with tiny scraps- you are gutsy to try her technique! Glad the cutting was therapeutic, hope you find the help your son needs. Raising children these days is an incredible challenge.

  2. Hi Amy - Your flower is gorgeous - the color transitions are lovely. I wish you well in your plan to make a weekly quilt. I'm sure you'll learn a lot and, hopefully, have a great time.

  3. Amy, welcome to the blog world. I like your blog, the rich maroon/red with the tan posting area is easy to read and restful. I lobe what you did with the snippets of color. Kids do grow up. I told mine I brought him into the world and I could take him out. All my gray hair I attribute to him (That's my story and I'm sticking with it) He is now a responsible adult with a new baby. Keep the faith in him.

  4. Hi Amy and congratulaions on your new blog and the endeavor of a Journal Quilt a week...
I really like what you have done with this one... the colors are great.

I have to admit, with the dark background of your blog, I cannot read your comments. [Maybe it is my computer screen?]

  7. Wow! I have no idea how to quilt so you are my hero. I love the idea of making art quilts. It's your very own canvas, without the paint. :^)

  9. I found your blog on random blogs on Quilting Bloggers. I have a quilt in my mind that I was going to do on gridded interfacing like a water color quilt. After seeing your blog, I might try to do it the scrap way. Thanks for the inspiration!
